Living Room

The living room is an invitingly elegant space furnished with objects from both the China and European trades. Guests have been known to say they felt as if they had been transported into another time as they crossed the threshold of this comfortable room.

You will find a rare black Italian marble fireplace, a large oriental carpet lying on the quarter-cut oak parquet flooring, two Queen Ann arm chairs, a velvet ottoman, a 17th century oriental screen above an inviting sofa which is flanked on each side by tiger maple side tables which hold either a Rose Medallion or an Imari lamp. A Chippendale sideboard with its decanter of spirits helps to complete the mood and invites you to sit and relax for a while after a day's travel or sightseeing.

The living room opens into a smaller room with two overstuffed "garden" chairs, an ottoman, and a beautiful oriental carpet adorning the quarter-cut parquet flooring. Original art work hangs on the deep-green painted walls and two interesting antique oriental chests can be found as one nears the french doors which give you a clear view of the carriage house and the garden.
